Treasure hunt in Deutschneudorf

Since 1998 treasure hunters come to a small town in the german Ore Mountains to search for Nazi-Gold and the Amer-Room that has been stolen from Russia by the german troops during the second world war. The town's mayor, Peter Haustein, found the first evidence that is supposed to proof that the SS has been in the town after the second world war in order to hide something of great value in the abandoned coal-mines in the area. An old black-and-white picture shows the troops that stand in front of a house right next to the mines. Treasure hunters even came from the USA and the media had a great interest in the topic, but nothing had been found yet. Some people are tired of the heavy machines standing around in there back yards, but others say “it never did any damage to the town. We used to be in the back of beyond but now we are in the center of Europe”. Peter Haustein, who employs 140 of the 1070 inhabitants of his hometown, is convinced that one day, he will find something and he still collaborates with treasure-hunters that share his dream.
